Ben got involved in promoting sustainability and community improvement several years ago as a volunteer Green Guide for Sustainable 19125/19134 in his neighborhood of Fishtown. He has focused his efforts on increasing recycling participation and green home improvements, as well as encouraging the installation of street trees on his block. Ben grew up in the Northern Virginia area until graduating from the Naval Academy in Annapolis, MD in 1994. After completing several at-sea tours of duty in Norfolk and San Diego, he resigned from the Navy to pursue a career as a pilot. Moving to the area from California in 2003, Ben now spends modest amounts of his time flying for a major airline based in Philadelphia.
